TREC was contracted to remove both TSCA and non-TSCA-impacted soils from an existing stream/wetlands area. All work was performed during winter to minimize the impacts of surface and groundwater during the excavation work. Soils were excavated using a long-front hydraulic excavator. Soils were managed in roll-off containers for storage and ultimate transportation to a TSCA landfill. Backfilling of high organic topsoil was performed and wetland seed mixtures were used to reestablish vegetation in the area. All work was performed under NYSDEC-prepared work plans and oversight.
